One of Australia’s most eminent pianists and teachers, Stephen McIntyre performs variations by Haydn, Rachmaninoff and Brahms.

An illustrious career in both performance and education has taken McIntyre all over the world, earning him accolades such as the National Critics Award, Sir Bernard Heinze Award for distinguished contribution to music and recognition as a member of the Order of Australia. A former student of renowned pianists Nadia Boulanger and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, witness McIntyre’s virtuosity as he performs three sets of variations by Haydn, Rachmaninoff and Brahms.

In this captivating program, McIntyre invites listeners to traverse the intricate minds of these composers. Experience Haydn’s delicate deconstruction and rhythmic precision in ‘Variations in F minor, Hob.XV11:6’, Rachmaninoff’s opulent expansion of rhythm and harmony in ‘Variations on a Theme of Corelli, Op.42’ and Brahms’ expressive power and dramatic shifts in ‘Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Handel, Op.24’.
