Event Details

Enjoy a captivating evening of viola and piano. Internationally renowned performers Wenhong Luo and Albert Tiu join forces for a celebration of great viola and piano works. Wenhong is currently the lecturer of viola at Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, and Albert is serving as head of Piano at Yong Siew Tho Conservatory of Music in Singapore.

About the concert

Opening with Brahms’ Viola Sonata No.2 in E-Flat, this masterpiece of Brahms’ catalogue was written in the later stages of his life and is filled with passion, depth, and love. Following this renowned work is a piece that is, perhaps, lesser known but what Bowen’s Viola Sonata No.1 lacks in esteem it more than makes up for in its ability to showcase the full capacity and colour palettes of the viola.

Finally, Hindemith’s Viola Sonata, Op.11, No.4 with its romanticism and lyricism is one of the composer’s earliest and most captivating works.
