Calexico – Feast of Wire 20th Anniversary Tour
Melbourne Recital Centre in arrangement with Supersonic Australasia presents Calexico
Details
Second show announced due to popular demand! Return to the dusty musical borderlands of the American Southwest with Calexico’s landmark 2003 album performed in full.
In 2003, Arizona outfit Calexico gifted music-lovers their groundbreaking masterpiece Feast of Wire. Described by MOJO in its stellar 5-star review, the album delivered ‘seductive, stirring songs about crushed hope and the corruption of beauty… their most fully-realised and accomplished album’, cementing the duo’s critical and commercial breakthrough.
Fast forward to today and Joey Burns and John Convertino have spent close to three decades masterfully exploring the dusty musical borderlands of the American Southwest, crafting singular, cinematic songs as mysterious and magnificent as the arid desert landscapes that inspire them.
The band rightly honours Feast of Wire’s milestone 20-year anniversary with a deluxe edition album release of remastered tracks and an international tour that will see the band play the landmark album in full, plus beloved songs from the band’s extensive back catalogue, including their latest album El Mirador. Released in 2022, El Mirador stands as a lookout point and beacon in the dark; an opportunity to search inwards, ponder our connections to the Earth and its people, and hopefully illuminate a path forward.
This is a rare and unmissable experience to celebrate 20 years of Calexico’s timeless and transporting album and celebrate the iconic way the band’s music remains boundless and romantic, as the duo gazes upon the horizon in search of their next adventure.
With Special Guest
Calexico will be supported by Grace Cummings.
