Presented by Selby & Friends

‘Luminaries’ presents Kathryn Selby with the Goldner String Quartet in works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich for the second in the 2024 Season of concerts.

Artistic Director/pianist Kathryn Selby Is joined by Australia’s illustrious Goldner String Quartet, in their farewell season, in a program rich with meaning – extraordinary works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich make for a stunning program of favourites performed by world-renowned artists and friends. Beginning with a rarely played early Mozart Piano Concerto in the composer’s own arrangement for piano and string quartet followed by Tchaikovsky’s great String Quartet No.1 in D, the concert concludes with one of the greatest of all piano quintets by Shostakovich.

This is a program not to be missed as we say goodbye to an important Australian icon in a special celebration of old friends.
