Visitor Experience Supervisor (Box Office) Variable, Part Time; Ongoing

Join the Melbourne Recital Centre Box Office team!

Visitor Experience Supervisors at Melbourne Recital Centre are a core member of our frontline team, working at our Box Office counter. Our supervisors oversee ticketing for events and warmly welcome all who visit the Centre. They proactively support our Box Office Assistants and with support from the Visitor Experience Coordinator and Manager, together are responsible for daily Box Office operations.

We are looking for people who are:

  • Naturally warm and welcoming in their approach to interacting with people whilst having a proactive attention to detail.
  • Able to work collaboratively and able to provide and receive direction from a wide range of people of different ages and experiences.
  • Have an appreciation for live music and are excited to engage with different genres and styles.

For this role, we’re looking for people who love interacting with other people and understand the impact that a positive interaction can have on an experience. As this role is systems based, you need to have some ticketing experience. You should have a keen eye for detail and be developing your strengths in problem solving.

We’re looking for individuals with demonstrated experience in team supervision and a proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service. Alternatively, candidates who have worked in an arts venue, particularly in roles like Box Office Assistant, and are eager to step up to greater responsibilities, are encouraged to apply.

A shift as a Visitor Experience Supervisor at Melbourne Recital Centre might look like:

  • Working alongside either a Box Office Assistant or another Supervisor to prepare the venue ready to open for the day by ensuring the foyers are safe and tidy.
  • Assisting patrons both in person and over the phone at our Box Office counter. Selling tickets, memberships, merchandise and other related products.
  • Providing directions and assistance for our audience, determining if they are attending the sold-out contemporary event in our Elisabeth Murdoch Hall, or the small ensemble premiere of a new work in our intimate Primrose Potter Salon. Or perhaps they are attending both!
  • During events, assisting the Front of House Supervisor and team with ticketing queries, resolving issues via radio if tickets don’t scan and helping patrons locate the most accessible and comfortable seating. Perhaps jumping behind the Cloakroom if it’s a rainy night and the team need a hand.
  • This role supports both daytime and evening operations at the Centre with the number of shifts and start/finish time dependent on venue activity. Generally, shifts are scheduled between 9am and 9.45pm Monday – Sunday.
